In societies in which people do not abide by the moral values of the Qur’an, women’s conception of love embraces the idea of “a woman’s duty”. According to that idea, a woman’s showing love for her spouse is not a direct love stemming from her deep fear for Allah. Daily and weekly tasks are performed under the name of love.

A woman who does not believe is unable to establish true love in her life because she lives by considering other people’s approval or her own interests. She therefore lives a false life. That life has its own essential rules. These literally oblige a woman to do the ironing and washing, to prepare the food and look after the children. If women do not do these things, they feel that something is missing. But love for the sake of faith is based on taqwa (fear of Allah) alone. There are no laws that need to be followed for that love to emerge. On the contrary, Muslims will still be loved if they cannot do these things, such as in the event of sickness or being in need of care. Because Muslims regard one another as manifestations of Allah and eternal companions of the Hereafter. 

There is no need to be attractive, powerful or wealthy to be loved. Muslims are loved for who they are. People who do not believe cannot comprehend and live by this important truth. They are therefore unhappy, as they imagine they have to abide by the rules generally accepted around them, and spend their lives in a lie, without ever experiencing the true love that comes from love of Allah.
